The Journey that led to creation of Boomerang Impact

Boomerang Impact's Vision

Founder's Vision

  • Traveling to 70 countries and living in South Africa for three years, Jeff Wolf saw countless examples of extreme poverty.
    • People starving, digging in dumpsters and asking for money.
    • Children, without families, just hoping for a better life.
    • The mother who said “please take my baby”, thinking her baby would have a better life with a stranger.
    • Even with all this, the sincere generosity of people, in poverty, was shocking.
  • During his travels, Jeff saw countless projects that uplifted communities for a short time but then failed due to lack of money.
    • These types of organizations made a great impact on communities but could not sustain their impact.
    • Jeff started to learn about social enterprises and realized that some problems are too big for charities to handle on their own.
  • Jeff learned to keep the money flowing, the support given needs to create the source of funds.
    • For example, you can use money to teach a person to fish, but then you need to sell those fish to teach more people to fish.
      • That way, the support is in equal proportion to the level of help you can offer.
        • This has two huge benefits.
          • First you are teaching people how to work. If the organization fails, the people will still have the training and opportunity to get other jobs.
          • You are offering an incentive to work hard. The people quickly learn that their efforts produce a better life.
